Willie, Norman and Earl Phelps started their recording career
in 1936 on DECCA Records. They were then collectively known as NORMAN
PHELPS' VIRGINIA ROUNDERS (Cattle LP 125). Especially Willie did a lot
of solo recordings. CATTLE RECORDS released an album on Willie with
previously unissued songs from 1955 on album No. 117. In the 1940s they
were primarily active with radio performances.
